Peter McDonnell is a TV producer, writer, and content development executive. Over the past 10 years Peter has developed and executive produced over 25 television series comprising over 2,000 episodes, which have been distributed in the US and nearly 100 other countries. Series have been licensed by Netflix, Amazon Studios, Discovery, Viacom, NBCU, Tribune, aired in national syndication, and been represented by international distributors Sky Vision, Electus, IM Global, Rive Gauche, Venevision, Televisa, Zodiak, Red Arrow, DRG, Banijay, and Cineflix.
Peter has opened production offices in Los Angeles and New Orleans, as well as co-produced series in Toronto and Winnipeg. He is a roll-up-your-sleeves EP with experience in packaging and financing projects, script writing, field and studio production, post, and deliverables for both scripted and unscripted series. Peter has taken advantage of changing technologies to develop and evolve unique and efficient production and post workflows.
Prior to TV producing, Peter taught fiction and nonfiction writing at Oregon State University and co-developed the curriculum for a minor degree in writing for the university’s Ecampus. For five years Peter worked in publishing in New York as an editor and content developer for McGraw-Hill and an associate editor at Outdoor Explorer Magazine. He has an MFA in writing from Oregon State University and a BFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
