Background: Marie Giorda is a writer and musician from Austin, Texas.  After years in New York City writing and producing plays, she shifted her focus to television and swapped the East Coast for the West but held on to her passion for complex and engaging characters.  In LA, Marie served on the board of the 2nd Sundays Script Reading Series, and her work has been featured in the Breakthrough Reading Series.  She has worked in scripted and non-scripted television at top agencies and management companies while continuing to hone her craft as a writer developing her own original pilots.  Most recently, she worked under Grant Anderson in development at Shane Brennan Productions, and she is proud to have made her first venture into the audio space as Story Producer for XG’s Audible series Shootout: The Battle for North Hollywood.

Expertise: Marie holds an MFA in playwriting from Columbia University where she studied under a powerhouse collection of creative professionals including Eduardo Machado, Anne Bogart, Robert Woodruff, Kristin Linklater, Keith Reddin, and Beth Henley.  In NYC she enjoyed productions of her plays Roadkill (dir. Ariel Nazarian) and Strip (dir. Alex Lippard), was an active member of Partial Comfort Productions, and has played a variety of roles both on and off stage.  Other plays include Waiting for River Phoenix, Uninvited, The Bacchaettes, Dark Time of Day, and Mixed Feeling.
